About the Artist
By presenting landscapes that pair gesture and the texture of decay with geometric abstraction, Sarah Thibault's paintings bring into focus the incongruity of corporate architecture, such as suburban homes, hotels, lobbies and strip malls, with their (un)natural environments. She mixes fluid washes of color with thick blobs of paint, pigment, salt, and earth.
Bio
Sarah Thibault is currently a candidate for an MFA at the California College of the Arts. She received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2006 and her BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003. Sarah lived and worked in New York until she moved back in 2009 to pursue her MFA. In addition to making work, Sarah has curated a number of exhibtions and served as the Director of Visual Arts for a gallery space in Brooklyn, Loft 910. Her work has been exhibited in Miami, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco, Montevideo, Uruguay and Paris, France.
