About the Artist
Katja learned the traditional handcrafts of embroidery, knitting and needlepoint at a young age in Germany. Today, she combines a folk art appeal with a modern aesthetic to create interesting peices that surprise the viewer at close range. She is attracted to and inspired by metal wire as strongly as she is to warm, fibrous materials and textures. Melding the two results in simple designs with layers of interest. Katja lives and works in San Francisco.
