About the Artist
Kristie paints intuitively and finds her work aligned in feeling with contemporary romanticism. Paintings from three series are represented here. In the numbered day series, she painted from imagination and memory, finding the ocean to be symbolic, and the horizon, the meeting of the world with its atmosphere, significant. In the next series, each piece was inspired by a specific scent; the resulting image captures the mood the perfume evoked. In the room series, beds act as mental resting spots in an examination of psychological space.
Now living in Pacifica, California, Kristie has shown her work in San Francisco galleries over the last seven years. She has degrees in art and film from the University of Notre Dame and in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute, where she was awarded a merit grant.
