These photographs are part of a shifting body of images called “Give me a sign.” It began with an attempt to take on and photograph via an unfamiliar mode of perception, namely a heightened awareness of signs, omens and phenomena often derided as superstition but which, for many, is a very real and guiding force. Klea uses photography to investigate the role of nature and myth in our private lives and our collective impulse to find meaning in our average surroundings and daily patterns. The images in “Give me a sign” refer to one another, and point to buried ideas of growth, death, and the possibility of latent meaning in everyday forms.
