About the Artist
Barry draws inspiration from a variety of artistic and musical sources. While living in Holland in 2007, the lush Dutch scenery, Oz inspired publications like Het, and the work of Dutch designer Dick Bruna, were critical in the development of his recent work. Also adding to Barry‘s visual and auditory inspiration are the Psychedelic Japanese rockers, the Flower Travellin‘ Band, and the styles of illustrators Randall Enos and Brad Holland. Barry currently works in advertising and his daily immersion in communication strongly affects his artistic output.
“I think a lot about messaging and marketing in the sense of selling someone an idea visually – as if the message is inherent and unique to the individual,” explains Barry. “The word of the month is serendipity. I try to let things happen naturally and not force creative thought, instead just surround myself with amazing friends and let creativity live and breathe externally.”
