About the Artist
Rachel Mosler is an Artist and Licensed Creative Art Therapist based in Brooklyn, NY. Raised in a post and beam house on Martha’s Vineyard, her father carved botanical patterns and planted an orchard in her backyard, while her mother stitched and collected feathers alongside roads. Traditional forms of entertainment were replaced with quiet observations of nature and time. Stitching crystals into cloth and binding books with twigs were daily patterns which fostered a love for material and process. Her drawings and sculptures are psychological inquiries into the construction and deconstruction of memories from her childhood. Structures in the work serve as a safe space for tension to settle and rest. She recently had a solo show at AHN/VHS Gallery in Philadelphia. She received her BFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2003 and her MPS from the School of Visual Arts in 2008.
