The Jealous Curator is an artist, designer, and online curator, who searches the world for contemporary art that leaves her (and hopefully you) thinking: "Damn. I wish I thought of that." Because, let's be honest, who wouldn't want to be the artist that came up with cable knit deer heads, found landscapes enhanced with rude typography, and paper sculptures made entirely of old tax forms?
When choosing work for this show, or on my own blog for that matter, I make choices based on a 'punch to the creative gut' feeling I get when I find a piece of art that I truly love. Oh sure, it starts out as a rush of inspiration, but that's quickly replaced by an overwhelming wave of soul-crushing jealousy. In this case, these ten very talented women are completely to blame for my pain. From the hilarious and raw work of Martha Rich, to the beautifully complex, yet strangely simple, pen drawings of Leigh Wells, I'm absolutely smitten with all of these girls.
Ouch... I think my soul might need a bandage.
